The most commonly used illicit drug in CT is cannabis (marijuana), with usage increasing in recent years. Illicit use of pain relievers is next most common.

"Polypharmacy" -- the use of multiple drugs, usually including alcohol, at one time -- is particularly dangerous. 92% overdose deaths in Southwest CT involved multiple drugs. Our region is in a "High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area" (HIDTA) due to drug corridors.
